About us

Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard — wine, place, people

The Kazimierskie Wzgórza vineyard was born from a combination of vision, passion and dedicated hard work. We create wines rooted in the landscape of Kazimierz Dolny — in the loess hills, the cool climate and the unique terroir that gives our wines their minerality, freshness and elegance. We believe in winemaking based on respect for nature, precise cultivation and conscious craftsmanship.

Behind the vineyard are Bogumiła and Marek Rak — entrepreneurs, visionaries and enthusiasts who have built a modern wine-growing estate from the ground up, combined with a wine tourism facility. Marek is responsible for viticulture and the winemaking process, managing the vineyard in the spirit of regenerative farming and working ‘in harmony with the land’. Bogumiła develops the hospitality, wine tourism and event organisation aspects, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, high-quality service and genuine interaction with guests.

Our vineyards are situated across three plots with distinct terroirs, which allows us to achieve complexity in the grapes and a distinctive terroir signature. The wines are produced in small batches, with a focus on harmony, purity of style and elegance — both in our classic still wines and in our sparkling wines made using the traditional method.

The Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard is also a place for socialising, wine culture and hospitality. We invite guests to tour the vineyard, enjoy wine tastings, dine on local cuisine and take part in events organised amidst the natural surroundings. For us, wine is not just a product — it is a story of the land, time and the people who, with courage and sensitivity, create something unique in Kazimierz Dolny.

The founders

Bogumiła and Marek Rak are entrepreneurs and experienced managers who have combined professionalism, vision and passion to create the Kazimierskie Wzgórza Winery. They are bold visionaries and the architects of this place – combining an innovative approach to winemaking with a deep respect for nature and the terroir.

Their commitment is both personal and day-to-day. Marek is responsible for viticulture and the winemaking process, overseeing work in the vineyard, the selection of grapes and the style of the wines. Bogumiła manages hospitality, wine tourism and operations, ensuring a positive guest experience and maintaining the vineyard’s brand image.

Together, they form a duo that combines professionalism and craftsmanship, courage and consistency, and innovation — developing the vineyard in a conscious, responsible and passionate manner.

The History of the Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard

The history of the Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard is a story of determination, vision and the courage to build a dream from scratch. In 2017, Bogumiła and Marek Rak purchased a farmstead in Kazimierz Dolny, beginning the process of creating a modern vineyard rooted in the unique landscape of the Kazimierz Hills. A year later, in 2018, Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard was officially registered.

In 2019, the first 2 hectares of vines were planted, followed by a further 4 hectares in 2020, whilst a modern processing facility and a 2-hectare wine tourism area were also opened. That same year saw the release of the inaugural 2020 vintage, which set the tone for the estate’s winemaking style.

The year 2021 saw the release of the first sparkling wine produced using the traditional method — Preludium Brut 2021. In 2024, the winery celebrated its fifth anniversary, as well as the launch of Preludium Cuvée Classique Brut / Brut Nature. In 2025, an application was submitted to the European Commission for the registration of the Kazimierz Dolny PDO, highlighting the importance of the local terroir.

The Kazimierskie Wzgórza Winery is a project that is constantly evolving — combining craftsmanship, modernity and a deep respect for the local area.

The Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard is not just a place where wine is made. It is a unique wine tourism destination, designed for socialising, discovering flavours and enjoying wine amidst the natural surroundings. Guests can expect an extensive wine tourism infrastructure here, combining comfort, architecture that blends into the landscape, and proximity to the Kazimierz Hills.

We offer a wide range of tasting sessions and workshops – from meetings with winemakers and guided themed tastings to educational workshops for wine enthusiasts and those just beginning their journey into wine tourism. At the heart of the vineyard is a wine bar where you can sample our wines alongside local cuisine made with regional produce.

This place is shaped by the genuine people and winemakers who are present at the vineyard every day – it is thanks to them that the experience feels authentic, sincere and full of emotion. The Kazimierz Hills have their own magic and atmosphere, which can be felt in the landscape, in conversations and in moments spent with a glass of wine.

The Kazimierskie Wzgórza Vineyard is also a space for gatherings and socialising – a venue for musical, cultural and social events where wine serves as a pretext for spending time together. Kazimierz Dolny
– a place where magic blends with nature and history

Kazimierz Dolny is a town that looks like a painting: the loess hills and the meandering Vistula create a landscape full of light, shadow and contrasts. The ravines, covered in lush vegetation, are perfect for a stroll, and the numerous walking and cycling trails allow you to discover the panoramic views of the town and its surroundings from every vantage point.

The city captivates with its architecture – Renaissance townhouses, cobbled streets and historic churches create a unique atmosphere where history meets the present. In Kazimierz, every step reveals another story: squares full of artists, galleries, cafés, festivals and cultural events that make the place buzz with life and creativity.

Yet Kazimierz Dolny also has that certain something – an inexplicable charm that draws you in and stays with you. It is the morning mists over the Vistula, the golden light of sunset, the birdsong in the gorges and the tranquillity that permeates every corner of the town. It is a place where nature, history and art intertwine into a harmonious whole, giving a sense of uniqueness and the fullness of the moment.
